How to Stay Healthy and Fit This Thanksgiving. (Just Kidding. It's a Freaking Pandemic. Carb it Up.)

Turkey Dinner Got you Terrified?

Then, you've come to the right website. Wise choice, my friend.

IN THIS POST:

  • What I'm grateful for during this totally shit year.

  • Chef Emma Banks is here with some Thanksgiving hacks just in time to save you from hours of sweating away in the kitchen... Royally Wild is NOW out in Paperback! Yay!

  • A FREE Book from the talented Ms. Delancey Stewart!

Hello, you!

Happy Thanksgiving, my friend!

We had ours here in Canada last month, and even though it wasn't really the same, we ate a whole lot of turkey, mashed taters, and pie. I imagine it won't be a 'normal' one this year for you and yours, what with the pandemic and the masks and the hand-sanitizing. Let's hope next year at this time, things are back to normal so you can celebrate with ALL the people you love.

THE CHEESY BUT TRUE PART OF THE POST...

I'm thankful for YOU.

Because you read my crazy books. And sometimes you write to me to tell me how much you enjoyed them. And sometimes you leave reviews to tell OTHER people how much you enjoyed them. And you helped make the launch of Royally Wild, a royally wild one. So, thank you, my friend. You are the reason I get to do this job every day.

THANKSGIVING HACKS WITH CHEF EMMA!

Hey, you!

Emma here from the Paradise Bay Resort. We met way back in Whisked Away when I was falling in love with Pierce. Things are still happy in our happily ever after, so no worries on that front. At the moment, we're trying to help my little brother, Will, and his lovely bride-to-be, Arabella. tie the knot. Let's hope the pressure doesn't get to be too much for those crazy kids.

Anyway, you're probably up to your eyeballs in potatoes that need scrubbing, so I'm here with three of my best hacks to reduce your time in the kitchen so you can get on with the drinking of the wine...

HACK #1 - DAY BEFORE PREP

You can do a TON of the prep work the day before, leaving you time to actually shower and maybe even dust your lashes with some mascara on the day of...

  • Cut up veggies and store them in airtight containers in the fridge overnight.

  • Make the mashed potatoes and store them in a crockpot liner overnight (in the fridge). Then simply heat them in the slow cooker...and they'll be toasty warm and delicious when you're ready to serve up.

HACK #2 - SMOOTH AS SILK GRAVY

Sick of the inlaws judging your lumpy gravy? Wrist sore from all that whisking?

Here's what you do - pop the gravy in a blender, food processor (or if you have an immersion blender, grab that out). If you're using a regular blender/food processor, make sure the lid is ON TIGHT so no one ends up wearing hot gravy.

If you don't have any of the above, grab a strainer and pour your gravy through it when nobody's looking. ;)

HACK #3 - NO SCRUB SCRUBBING...

This is where shit gets weird. I know. But this totally works. If you have a whole lot of potatoes, yams, and other root veggies to scrub. Just pop them in the dishwasher on a quick cycle WITHOUT the soap. (Pierce accidentally added soap once. Disaster, but at least he tried, right?)

Okay, that's it. Good luck with your big meal. You got this.

Emma

READY TO GET YOUR CHRISTMAS ON?

SHAKING THE SLEIGH IS FREE ON FRIDAY, NOV 26TH!

SHAKING THE SLEIGH by the super talented, VERY lovely Delancey Stewart (I've actually met her in real life and she's a wonderful person) is a standalone holiday romantic comedy with a satisfying happily ever after, plenty of festive chuckles, some sexy times, and a few chinchillas. Maybe a cat. (And there might be a wombat because wombats really do fit into almost any story.)

Okay, back to my imaginary friends now. Wishing you and yours a wonderful, cozy, safe, delicious Thanksgiving. Gratefully yours,

Melanie
